Happy Easter!
I hope you’re taking some time on this Sunday to rest and spend it with the ones you love. This is such a meaningful day. So, I just want to share a quick word…
The Meaning of Easter I remember around this time as a child getting excited, because it was the one time I could go crazy on Peeps. You know, those colorful marshmallow treats made into cute little bunnies or chicks. I loved them. To me, they weren’t very sweet. But they were just sweet enough. And March and April were the only months in the whole year that I could find them. And then, there was the Easter Egg Hunts at church, where we’d run around toting a basket in search for eggs stuffed with candy. (I think I enjoyed running around the most, to be honest.) Then, there was the face painting and tie-dye shirts. Thinking back, I had so much fun as a child during Easter… Because I felt like I was given so much. Easter eggs… treats… and colorful shirts… But now that I understand what living is truly about, I’m thankful to have learned all those years ago that the best thing I was given was a chance at real, everlasting life. I’m not really sure when it sinked in, but I’m glad it did. Another Chance I didn’t deserve it, but Jesus came to this earth to live, die, and live again… So that I could get another shot. We all get another chance. Seventy times seven, even. Maybe you might feel like you’ve messed up so many times in life, how could you possibly earn a do-over. But everyone deserves a second chance. So, whether you’ve messed up with money, or you’ve messed up with someone close to you—maybe a family member or a friend—it’s not too late to turn around. I don’t believe there’s such a thing as a lost cause. Nothing and no one is. When you fall down—and we all do—you get back up. Sometimes, the hardest part about getting back up is being able to let what we have (or haven’t) done go. Oftentimes, everybody else has already forgiven you, except for one person: the one in the mirror. We’ve already been forgiven by the most important One there is. So, if you need to turn things around in your life, give yourself another chance. Get back up. And the best way to start is by learning to forgive yourself.
